The Razer Axon Artist Spotlight series celebrates creators who bring their own visual worlds to the desktop. This time, we’re featuring ICHIRAKU STUDIO, a Japan-based artist whose work draws from samurai, ninja, and ukiyo-e influences through a contemporary digital lens.

His latest collection on Razer Axon, Ukiyo-e Ninja Chronicles, reflects a creative journey that has brought him back to the Japanese aesthetics that first inspired him, shaped by a philosophy he describes as “old yet new.”

A Creative Journey That Came Full Circle

Ichiraku began drawing samurai and ninja in his early twenties, driven by a clear ambition to become an internationally recognized artist. Professional illustration work helped him sharpen his craft, but over time, his style moved in a more commercial direction. Eventually, he found himself returning to the imagery and aesthetics that had sparked his interest in art from the beginning.

That return became an important turning point for ICHIRAKU STUDIO. Rather than recreating traditional Japanese art, Ichiraku began exploring how its influences could evolve through his own perspective. Samurai, ninja, and ukiyo-e became part of a visual identity that feels rooted in where he started while continuing to move forward.

Returning to the Art That Shaped Him

Ukiyo-e and traditional Japanese woodblock art remain central influences in Ichiraku’s work. Their impact can be seen in his use of strong silhouettes, deliberate composition, and the way individual characters command space within a scene.

Those foundations take on a different character through digital illustration. Ichiraku brings his own sense of atmosphere, movement, and detail to each piece, creating work that feels distinctly contemporary while retaining a connection to the visual traditions behind it.

That balance is at the heart of his “old yet new” philosophy. It gives him room to acknowledge the art that shaped him while continuing to develop a style that is unmistakably his own.

Creating for Razer Axon

For Ichiraku, bringing his work to Razer Axon also carries a personal connection.

As a dedicated gamer and longtime Razer user, he was already familiar with the community and culture surrounding Razer before becoming part of the Artist Spotlight series. Razer Axon gives him a new canvas for sharing his work, placing the worlds he creates directly onto the desktops of fellow gamers and art enthusiasts.

It is also where the qualities that define his work take on a different role. Composition, atmosphere, and character have to remain striking while sharing space with the rest of a desktop setup, giving Ichiraku another way to think about how his art is experienced.

Ukiyo-e Ninja Chronicles

That approach comes together in Ukiyo-e Ninja Chronicles, Ichiraku’s featured collection on Razer Axon.

The series returns to one of the subjects that first drew him to illustration: the ninja. Through an ukiyo-e-inspired lens, Ichiraku explores these figures with a sense of restraint, presence, and mystery, bringing historical influence together with his own imagination.

Across the collection, traditional Japanese aesthetics provide the foundation while each composition carries Ichiraku’s contemporary visual identity. Some pieces place the character at the center of the scene, while others allow atmosphere and environment to shape the mood around them.

As wallpapers, they bring that world directly to the desktop, giving Razer Axon users a way to make Ichiraku’s interpretation of Japanese art part of their own setup.

 What’s Next for ICHIRAKU STUDIO

Ukiyo-e Ninja Chronicles is now available on Razer Axon, with more work from ICHIRAKU STUDIO expected as new pieces are completed.

For Ichiraku, the collection marks another step in a creative journey that began with samurai and ninja and eventually brought him back to the artistic influences that mattered most to him. For Razer Axon, it is another opportunity to spotlight an artist with a distinctive perspective and give that work a new home on desktops around the world.

Explore ICHIRAKU STUDIO on Razer Axon and experience a collection where tradition is reimagined for the modern setup.
