Team Razer’s OpTic Texas has become the first Call of Duty team to win back-to-back Esports World Cup (EWC) championships, successfully defending its 2025 title at the 2026 tournament.
Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today celebrates Team Razer’s OpTic Texas following its historic back-to-back Esports World Cup victory. The historic victory caps another strong season for OpTic Texas, adding a second consecutive EWC title to a résumé that already includes the CDL 2025 Championship and CDL 2026 Major IV Championship.
The achievement is particularly significant following a challenging finish to the CDL season. Just weeks earlier, OpTic fell short of completing a historic CDL Championship three-peat at CDL Champs. The team quickly turned its attention to the EWC, returning as defending champions with another opportunity to make history.
OpTic remained a consistent contender throughout the 2026 season, reaching four consecutive Major Grand Finals before breaking through at the Paris Major. At the EWC, the team once again delivered on the international stage, overcoming the pressure of defending its title against the world’s top Call of Duty teams.
With the back-to-back EWC victory, OpTic Texas becomes the first Call of Duty team to successfully defend the Esports World Cup title, further cementing its place among the sport’s elite and marking another milestone in the team’s historic competitive run.
