Meet Hiroi Sekai, a US-based Razer Axon artist, creative director, and ambient music producer. His work blends atmospheric visuals with soundscapes designed to help people step away from the noise of modern life.

Blending visuals with original audio, his creations shift how your desktop feels, turning it into a more intentional, reflective space rather than just another screen.

To bring the community closer to his creative process, we hosted an AMA with Hiroi Sekai on Razer’s Instagram, inviting fans to submit questions about his art and creative inspirations.

Here’s what he had to share about his journey, his philosophy, and the thinking behind his work on Razer Axon.

Where It All Began

Hiroi Sekai’s creative journey started at a young age, experimenting with audio software, creating remixes, and recording music with friends.

Q: For those discovering your work for the first time, how did you first get into art?

“My journey into art began at nine years old. I started experimenting with audio software like GoldWave and Cool Edit Pro, making remixes and recordings with childhood friends. Even back then, I felt like a visionary.”

In those early moments, he was drawn to how sound and visuals could shape an experience. That instinct carried into everyday life. He recalls family road trips through the Appalachian Mountains, where he would wait for the perfect moment—driving through a tunnel to play a specific dreamy track on his CD player.

“It was my way of creating a cinematic experience in the real world.”

At the same time, his identity as a gamer was taking shape. Titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy XIII left a lasting impression, not just for their gameplay, but for their atmosphere, worldbuilding, and music.

In 2018, that curiosity expanded into filmmaking after he picked up a camera to create social media content for his family’s restaurant. What started as a small project quickly grew into a full-time creative pursuit, eventually bringing him to Los Angeles. There, he collaborated with artists including Soulja Boy, French Montana, Chief Keef, and Karan Aujla.

Creating for Razer Axon

In 2022, Hiroi Sekai began experimenting with AI image generation tools as a new artistic medium.

The experience sparked a new creative chapter, one that would eventually lead him to share his creations on Razer Axon.

By 2025, he expanded the concept further by producing his own ambient music to accompany the visuals, turning each project into a complete sensory experience.

For Hiroi Sekai, sharing his work on Razer Axon felt like a natural fit.

Q: Why did you choose to share your work on Razer Axon?

“My history with Razer goes back years, from selling their gear when I was younger while working at a retail tech store to now using it to power my creative process.”

“It’s an honor to go from being a fan and an advocate of the brand to a featured creator, providing the community with immersive, ambient wallpapers that complement their hardware.”

While his work has reached audiences across different platforms, Razer Axon offers a different kind of canvas, one where his visuals become part of a user’s everyday space.

That shift changed how he approached his work.

Instead of designing for a single moment, he now creates wallpapers that live on a screen throughout the day, complementing the atmosphere of each setup.

The Creative Process

When starting a new piece, Hiroi Sekai approaches the process with openness rather than a fixed plan.

Q: When beginning a new project, do you usually start with a clear concept?

“I always approach a new project with a fresh mind and no set intentions for how a specific piece should look or sound.”

“I prefer to experiment based on how I’m feeling in the moment, allowing the process to be guided by my current emotions rather than a rigid plan.”

Music often leads the process.

He begins by composing ambient tracks, layering subtle soundscapes that establish the emotional tone of the project.

Once the sound is established, the visuals follow as a natural extension of that atmosphere, created using cinematic generation tools.

Together, the music and visuals form a unified ambient experience.

The Disconnect Collection

Hiroi Sekai’s wallpaper collection on Razer Axon, The Disconnect, is built around the idea of reclaiming mental space in a constantly connected world.

Q: What was the core idea behind your Razer Axon collection?

“The Disconnect is about reclaiming your headspace. I wanted to design a series that felt like a quiet pause in the middle of a loud day.”

At the heart of the collection is Dazed, his personal favorite piece.

“It’s an image of being disconnected from global chaos and finding a private moment of clarity.”

For Hiroi Sekai, each wallpaper is intentionally open to interpretation. A single piece might evoke calm reflection for one viewer and something more melancholic for another.

That flexibility is part of the design.

Rather than telling viewers what to feel, the artwork creates space for personal meaning.

For gamers who appreciate immersive worlds and atmospheric soundtracks, The Disconnect brings that same feeling of atmosphere to the desktop.

Advice for Aspiring Digital Artists

For creators entering the world of digital art, Hiroi Sekai keeps his advice simple.

“Be yourself. It’s easy to follow trends, but trends are short-lived. Staying genuine helps your work resonate longer and keeps you from burning out trying to keep up with everyone else.”

In a fast-moving creative landscape, protecting that authenticity can be the difference between chasing visibility and building something meaningful.

What’s Next

Looking ahead, Hiroi Sekai plans to continue expanding the universe he has built.

One direction he is particularly excited about is deep house music production, evolving his ambient soundscapes into rhythmic compositions that could eventually translate into live DJ performances.

Alongside the music, he plans to continue creating immersive visuals for the Razer Axon community, building digital worlds that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and disconnect from the noise of everyday life.
