Razer Switches stand at the forefront of keyboard technology and innovation. Since creating our own mechanical gaming switches in 2014, we have continued to refine and design for different playstyles and preferences. Today, the line up spans full mechanical designs for a refined feel, to our next gen analog optical switches that enable features like Rapid Trigger and Adjustable Actuation. The goal is simple, give every gamer a switch that feels right and performs right.
Why switches matter: Precision and Feel
A switch defines how a key activates, the force curve, the sound profile, and the reset behavior. Competitive players want short travel, clear reset, and rapid re-actuation. Gamers and typists often want stronger tactility and richer acoustics. Streamers may prefer quiet operation. By offering distinct switch families, we help you tune every press to your needs.
Discovering our Razer Switch families

Mechanical switches use a physical contact to register a press. Our latest designs are built for speed and durability, with options that include linear, tactile, and clicky feels. They are ideal for players who want classic feedback, predictable travel, and the widest compatibility. Learn more on our overview page, Mechanical Keyboard Switches, where you can explore actuation force, travel distance, and sound characteristics.
Razer Optical switches use a light beam to detect actuation, which removes debounce delay. This is the foundation for ultra-low latency and near instantaneous response. Optical actuation also provides less physical contact as compared to traditional switches, lessening wear and tear, and comes equipped with a metal stabilizer bar for a balanced keypress. These switches are rated up to 100 million keystrokes, two times better than the industry standard. Optical sensing suits competitive players who value the fastest response and balanced keystrokes, and creators who need quiet keys that still feel crisp.

Razer Analog Optical switches combine optical sensing with analog output. Instead of a simple on or off, each key can report a position value by sensing the amount of light throughput. This is the foundation for features like Rapid Trigger and Adjustable Actuation. Rapid Trigger resets the key the moment you move back up past the point you set, so you can feather keys with ultra fine control. Adjustable Actuation allows you to set the depth in which the key reports the input, ensuring intended key presses where it matters while reducing accidental inputs. Generation 2 further improves on precision and durability, offering full customization through the entire 0.1 – 4.0 mm travel range. If you want the most responsive of switches that can tailor to your specific needs, this family is for you.
Low profile mechanical: Compact height with Full performance
With the latest Razer BlackWidow V4 Low Profile HyperSpeed launch, we introduced low profile variants of our mechanical switches. These switches reduce overall key height for a slim, travel friendly design while preserving the Razer advantage, Chroma integration, reliable performance, and long life. They fit players and professionals who prefer a modern low profile look and a faster feeling bottom out without giving up feedback.

The Razer™ Snap Tap Advantage
Regardless of your choice of Razer keyboards, you can unlock the ability of Razer Snap Tap via Razer Synapse. With faster input activation between two selected keys, you can enjoy more responsive counter-strafing in FPS games. Snap Tap also allows gamers to translate all their movements exactly how they intended them, reducing delay when changing directions.
Razer™ Snap Tap is available on all supported keyboards via Razer Synapse 4, and natively onboard with our Razer Huntsman V3 Pro line.
